Chanel CRUISE 2024

The best things in life are timeless, and that's why we love Chanel.

The iconic French fashion house has been around for over a century and leads the pack in everything from couture to makeup. Their dedication to timeless quality is evident in every single piece they make.

But what if you could make a timeless piece even more timeless?

That's what Virginie Viard does when she infuses 80s Glam, Barbiecore, and Classic Hollywood Charm into Chanel’s Time-Honored Tradition with her own spin on itβ€”and it works like magic!

A tribute to glamorous film figures – the Cruise 2023/24 collection unites the reverie of the glamorous film figures with Los Angeles’ active pursuits: board sports, aerobics, roller skating and more. Evoking the Californian way of life, rhinestone-covered mini-shorts and jumpsuits, embroidered bustiers and little tank tops bring colour and vitality to the collection imagined by Virginie Viard.

The Chanel Resort 2024 show was a cinematic spectacular that leaned exuberantly into the brand’s long-standing ties with Hollywood. Coco Chanel’s first trip to California was almost 100 years ago, circa 1931, when she created clothes for movies by directors including George Cukor and Jean Renoir. Karl Lagerfeld built on that legacy by strengthening relationships with actors and celebrities and becoming a red-carpet force to be reckoned with.

The collection takes inspiration from 80s LA skate culture and its love affair with neon colours and geometric patterns with a modern twist. It also reflects the modern-day obsession with all things retro: With a colour palette that leans towards pastels and gradients, it's the perfect wardrobe for any Gen-Z girl who wants to channel her inner Malibu Barbie.

The pastel tones are reminiscent of those used in vintage board shorts, while geometric shapes nod at those found on classic bathing suits and t-shirts from back in time. The new collection is a nod to the 80s and we LOVE it!!

There was no shortage of tweed jackets and charm-laden chains in the collection, but a more contemporary vibe was also present.

The collection still fits comfortably within the time-honored tradition of Chanel collections looking pretty much the same every season that Viard has been devotedly carrying onward since she took over from Lagerfeld.

It's a new era for Chanel, and we're so excited to see what's next. We'll be watching to see where this new chapter in Chanel's history takes us.
