Yuhan Wang / Beyond the Horizon.

For yuhan SS23 collection, the designer drew inspiration from Apsaras’ ancient, ethereal, flying beings. ‘In Asian culture , we have beautiful and supernatural flying Apsaras and ethereal beings that inhabit the skies’ explains Yuhan. ‘They are mainly depicted as femaile spirits but in real life, we lose sight of the sparks of female aviators who displayed remarkable talen and bravery. I really want to make a collection to celebrate women’s independence, persistence, courage and coolness under pressure, especially under the tense internationl situation. Female aviators in history, from different cultureal backgrounds, really opened wider an brighter doors for the women of the future. Their spirits and desire for love and peace shoul be acrried on and spread forever.’

Dlicate yet powerful, these creatures of the wind emb ody strength, elegance and fragility.

In the new collection of Yuhan Wang, the designer is exploring a new direction for her work. The collection is full of bold shapes, provocative details, and daringly sheer fabrics.

The collection features bold shapes and daringly sheer fabrics with flippy cuts and tantalizingly sheer fabrications that never err on the side of saccharine. Sweet? Certainly. Sugary? Never! There’s a quiet defiance to all that frilly lace and delicate drapery—especially when styled with this season’s pretty-tough, helmet-like headwear and parachute bags made for adventures. Other aviator touches came via waterproof nylons made feminine with hand-drawn florals and utility straps that leaned toward lingerie.

As we reflect on the many feat and acomplishments of women throughout history, we too must remember that we have a long road ahead for gender equality to be achieved. It is not enough to merely accept the path that has been set, we must look Beyond the Horizon.
