The Future is Now: Essential Looks 2022—02

Embracing change and evolving into a different tomorrow. Essential Looks 2022–02 is innovative, powerful and above all, packed full of ideas and inspiration that point towards a brighter tomorrow.

Adaption and growth continue to be key themes running through every industry as established norms are challenged—Schwarzkopf Professional understands that now more than ever, it’s important to come together as a community and rise to these challenges.

This season’s Essential Looks 2022—02 trends speak of comingtogether as one global community, celebrating our differencesthroughties that bind; after all, if we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.

These latest seasonal looks were created by Schwarzkopf Professional’s Global Ambassadors Tyler Johnston @tylerjohnstonhair and Lesley Jennison @lesleyjennison, Global Colour Ambassador Arjan Bevers @arjanbevers and Global Styling Ambassador Nick Irwin @nickirwinhair

Catwalk Look: Meg

The POP & PLAY Catwalk Look has been coloured by Lesley Jennison, with cut and styling by Nick Irwin with a big focus on texture that's been deconstructed to bring out individual spirit, the colour focuses on the roots to give the bold colour effect a higher impact.

Nick shares that, "it’s the texture that elevates and modernises the entire aesthetic...deconstructed by this really awkward, 'slept' texture effect".

For the colour, Lesley discusses her process: “This look is all about that root, the centimetre or so of regrowth I’ve maintained just transposes this look to an entirely different place. It grounds the look, giving it an entirely fresher attitude. This ensures it fits perfectly with the haircut and vibe of today’s trends.”

Laugh, sing, dance. See it, say it, feel it–the power of joyful expression. POP & PLAY is about turning convention on its head, living a life of unbridled joy and positivity derived from artistic expression. POP & PLAY espouses the benefits of letting go of your inhibitions and coming together as a community to live a shared life, full of colour, which inspires a sense of optimism.

The overall aesthetic and feel of POP & PLAY is defined by the relationship between hair cut and hair colour. While the colours should be bold and bright, eye-catching shades, the hair should becut to create a head-hugging silhouette. This combined with an uncontrived, modern feeling of texture and a darker, smudged root transpose the look to a fresher, more lived aesthetic reflective of today

Salon Look:

Sofya

The POP &PLAY Salon Look has been coloured by Arjan Bevers, with cut and styling by Nick Irwin to give a more wearable spin with longer layers that celebrate the statement colour with a smudged root effect.

Nick gives the lowdown on this look, "it’s longer, more grown out, less stationary. Overall, it feels much more accessible to a client. Taking away the weight is really powerful; it allows the hair to move and breathe.

Arjan uses colour to make a statement: "In terms of the red, I wanted to go for a cherry tone and keep some depth, to give it a high fashion edge–then I’ve dragged the root. This serves both to give the hair more attitude, but also increased wearability."
